Introduce young learners to coding and robotics through a progressive course series, starting with unplugged activities in Grade R and advancing to block-based coding in Grades 1-3 with the Novice Bot and Resly IDE. Learners develop coding, computational thinking, and robotics skills, including loops, conditionals, and obstacle avoidance, while learning digital safety and how computers work. Facilitator resources, like eBooks and videos, support teaching and upskilling, preparing learners for the Apprentice series.
This course is the first in the Novice series and is completely unplugged. The teacher will receive a facilitator guide, which includes a step-by-step description of the activities and lessons as well as memorandums for activities. The facilitators will introduce the learners to the world of robotics and coding through computational thinking. Computational thinking involves fun concepts that expose learners to logical thinking, pattern recognition, decomposition, abstraction, and algorithms.
These concepts form the fundamentals of how computers and robots "think". We believe learning should be fun and that learning how to think like a programmer is the first big step to becoming one!
